Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, on Tuesday, interacted with soldiers posted along the Line of Control (LoC) and asked them to remain vigilant. The visit, though a routine affair, comes on the backdrop of a sensitive situation in Jammu and Kashmir in light of the abrogation of Article 370.   "Avalanches will take place, ceasefire violations will continue to take place, enemies will continue to try trespassing, but you must believe that you should always stay cautious and alert. You must take a step with all your intelligence. You shouldn't let the enemy win in his intent. But above all, I want to give best wishes to you, your family and friends. And whoever you talk to at your home," Singh told the jawans posted at sensitive locations in northern Kashmir.

"Lt Gen Ranbir Singh complimented all ranks for their commitment and selfless dedication; exhorted them to maintain a high order of vigil and give a befitting response to any misadventure by the enemy,"Indian Army's Northern Command said on Twitter. The visit also comes just two days after a massive avalanche on Siachen glacier resulted in the tragic death of four Indian Army jawans. On Tuesday, Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy informed the Parliament that Pakistan troops carried out 850 ceasefire violations since August 5 since the abrogation of Article 370 inJammu and Kashmir.

"The Government informed that 950 incidents of ceasefire violations along Line of Control from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir were reported during August 2019 to October 2019," a Press Information Bureau (PIB) statement said on Tuesday.
